What says the time? The time says God O’clock.
I always enjoyed it when my parents or my older siblings request that I check what the time was. I would usually run-up to the living room and take a cursory gaze at our old-fashioned wooden clock. Initially, for me, it was a matter of just indicating where the longer and the shorter hands of the clock were positioned. As I grew older, I eventually could state what the exact time was in clearer terms.
I recall while I was much younger, my Mom had an unseemly habit when she gets this inkling of running late to work. She’d beckon on me to check what the time was. I found it very riveting to always tell her it was 15minutes ahead of the current time. Usually, she suddenly gets extremely faster with whatever she was doing and in no time ready to go.
When she’s set to leave home, she goes to the sitting room this time herself and discovers that there were still more minutes before the time I gave her some 15minutes ago. She immediately knows that I had done that on purpose. Well, she’d have no choice but to get going. When she unraveled this skill of mine, I joined forces with my older siblings to set the sitting-room clock alone to 15minutes faster than all other clocks. My Mom doesn’t bother to call me, I know her reference will be the clock in the sitting room. Boom! Rinse and repeat. Different procedures. Same results.
Typically, when we describe what the clock says, we say, it’s 10 O’clock. Or 5minutes before 9am. Or 15minutes past 2pm. Or 12noon. For those who use the 24hour clock system, we say 17:09, or 21:20, or 23:31, etc. Either way, the exact time can be expressed in a scientific or literal manner denoting the correct time counting. With God, however, his counting methodology is not the same as either the 12hour or 24hour clock. He only has one timing – God O’clock. No past or before.

You can decide to either wait for his time or you go around with your own timing. His time can’t be fast-forwarded like I used to do to my sitting room clock and it can’t be backtracked. It’s a revered timing. You can’t push your agenda to meet His timing. You cannot meander your way to relinquish His timing. God can be all laid back as he won’t force you to follow His time but if it’s not His time, I can guarantee you those plans will fail and come to naught. Be sure to listen to His voice to learn about God O’clock.
Recently, I was in the middle of several outlandish situations that required much decision-making. I really did make those decisions, I prayed and I believed all should be fine. It happened that some of the plans went haywire. I got really disturbed. And the spirit of God in a sweet calm voice whispered these words:
“Johnson, the fact that we involve God in everything doesn’t mean it will go exactly the way we want it. We can ask for God’s backing for all I care. God’s ways can never be man’s way. He will make it happen at His own time, in His own way. He maketh all things beautiful at his own time.”
Hearing these assuring words brought a remembrance of this scripture verse to me in Eccl 3:11 “He hath made everything beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end”
How exactly will it be God, if you can predict his
works? If you can successfully tell the details of his ways, what happens to the mystery he possesses? Relax, dear child of God! Do you think you can outthink God? No, my dear. You can never get smarter than your creator. Chill it out!
Look up to the sky, it’s God O’clock – God’s time, God’s way. For every situation, need, and challenge you encounter I encourage you to lean not to your own understanding but commit yourself to God O’clock and you’d find peace, comfort, and fulfillment always.
God bless you
