Do you know that your Heavenly Father is interested in every detail of your life? How is the sound of that? Plausible? Riveting? Interesting, yeah? Well, He not only wants you to be intentional about your spiritual life but also with your finances, health, mental, relationship life, marital life, business and career, and life in its totality.

I love the song by Hillsong “new wine“. This article is inspired by some of its lyrics. I particularly enjoy the line of the lyrics where it says “so I yield to you into your careful hand, when I trust you I don’t need to understand“. The mistake we make as Christians is trying to understand Him first before trusting. The moment you invert that formula, you will see Him move mightily in your life. You would make great strides and achieve successes in life and indeed be a 360° Christian

The processes in the making of a new wine involve harvesting, crushing, pressing, fermentation, aging & bottling. When God chose you for His purpose, he did that carefully. You may not understand why but just as the grapes are carefully picked amongst other fruits, you have been selected (harvested) by the divine Winemaker.

In the crushing and in the pressing, may we say like the songwriter “Make me your vessel, make me an offering, make me whatever you want me to be“. This stage involves separating the juice from the skins, seeds, and solids. You wonder sometimes why things don’t go your way. Or the way seems hard and dreary. Or you pass through some life hurdles and it looks like you’re being broken completely.

Hey, cheer up! God sees it all. He knows about it. Like Tasha Cobbs rightly put it – God will break you to position, He will break you to promote you, break you to put you in your right place. But when He breaks you, He doesn’t hurt you, He doesn’t destroy you but He does it with grace. So, go through it with this consolation.

During fermentation, the winemaker kills the wild and unpredictable natural yeast and dry wine is produced. You see those elements of yeast deep within you, God is in the business of working on them. When He sees pride, unforgiveness, lack of compassion, incompetence, inordinate affections, etc, he brings you to a place of humility for you to acknowledge and let go.

What happens next? Filtering and fining at its peak. Are you in this stage now? Has God required something of you? Is it about your career or finance or health? Give them all to Him. Say “I came here with nothing. But all you have given me. Jesus bring new wine out of me”

When the new wine (you) is bottled and ready for sales, guess what? There is new power, new freedom, old flames gone, new fire, restoration, superabundance. You will be quickened to serve luscious taste to who and whatsoever comes in contact with you.

I’m sure you want to lay it all down at the feet of Jesus today. Connect to the greatest winemaker of all. Ask Jesus Christ into your life, wait on Him through these stages. He will make a new wine out of your life. God cares so much for you – He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? (Romans 8:32 NIV)
