Masturbation, over the years bas been one of the terrible sinful pleasure that has plagued the lives of many Christians. In recent times, there has been even more occurrences and publicity of it due to advent of technology and the social media. It’s a phenomenon that shas sparked heated arguments, unending debates whether it’s a sin or not. The earlier we realize that the devil is behind that tricky subject, the better we come to the light of truth of how much we need God. Masturbation in its reality, require negative thoughts, obscene images etc to bring it to fruition. With no doubts in mind, masturbation is an outright sin. God frowns so much at it.
I remember during my growing years, on a particular day, I saw from a distance, a few guys hiding and steering at a picture. I was curious so I went closer to their location. Your guess is as true as mine, they were viewing some nudes from a magazine. I could read guilt all over our faces while at it. I remember vividly one of the guys say to another “cover it well, and let’s sit as if nothing is happening, so no one would suspect what we are looking at”. You see, the devil is a creature that once knew and understood well what being in the light, the truth and knowledge of God means. Now his only business is to propagate the opposite. He has therefore made sin more appealing, less likely to refute, more harmless, more encompassing and catchy.
You need to understand that as Christians that the devil is not after you committing a big, popular sin but rather he just needs that little, britty, tiny sin that can entangle, enslave and stain your clean robe of righteousness not once but always. I have learnt in my walk with God, that every sin has it’s own punishments. Sometimes, until God brings capital punishment, we hold tight to that very besetting sin. Masturbation has ruined some growing Christian’s ministry, it has destroyed people, their homes and those connected to them, it has denied some others admission into universities, good paying jobs, chance of relocation to a better place, sweet homes, thwarted God’s beautiful plans for some others etc. The list is endless.
Just imagine Jesus say to devil like he did to Job ” You see, Kulado, my daughter, she will not commit that sin”. And the devil says ‘right ? Give me a week’ . Be honest to yourself, will you stay up to a day before the devil is proven right? So many of us Christians have disappointed Jesus over and over. We disguise as though we have broken away from that bad habit. We even sometimes go down on our kneels crying like little babies. ‘Oh, I said, I didn’t want to do this anymore and here am I again, I’m sorry LORD’. God will forgive but he will not suffer all long. You are only exhausting your lifelines. You are giving the devil a freelance access to some important part of your life that you might never be able to regain. Break it now!!!
A sweet remedy for negative actions or thoughts is to replace them with positive ones. To break off the chains of masturbation or any bad/ugly bad habits at all is to decide first to stop. A clear understanding of the bad consequences is not sufficient. You must want to stop. You must believe that Christ can give you total freedom. Then, you need to deal with the source or root of the issue. Surround yourself with positive energy. Study the scriptures. Replace that negative activity with a spiritual exercise. Indeed, grow your spirit, starve the flesh and all of its manifestations in you. Romans 8:6 says “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace”.
The benefits of living a life without blemish, free of any material or immaterial guilt surpasses the pains you live with for ‘just a little sin’. Let me ask you a question, if the only food you are prohibited from eating in order to stay physically healthy is your favourite, will you let go? Your answer simply tells how determined you are to free yourself from that entanglement. If you are still addicted to anything bad, its simply because you still crave for it. You need to grow a godly discontentment for sins.
You will enjoy a sweeter fellowship with God, physical and spiritual abundances, peaceful life when you stay spiritually healthy. You will live a fulfilling life, a purposeful life driven by God and its vision for your life. Life will be more meaningful to you. You will be able to touch many lives positively and be a huge testimony to many others who are still battling with any bad habits. There is still spate of mercy available at the cross. Only be honest with yourself and with God. Remember, God is very loving but he will not tolerate any iota of sin. Come to him for help today. Surrender to him. He will transform your heart and give you the power to go and sin no more.
God bless you. I hope you enjoy this piece.
