Psalm 50:15 reads “Call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me”. While the story I want to narrate is not particularly that of a day of trouble, it sure was a turbulent few minutes for me. I haven’t felt antsier in a long time – I was so goosey.
A week ago, I purchased a steel thermo-flask particularly because I need to continually take warm water for a certain period. I have had incredible bonding with this ‘new baby’ of mine. It has helped me become more fluid than before. I never imagined that I would have to betray my dearly beloved cold water but here we are, can’t even remember such a thing exists.
Today, I discovered there was a little oily stain on the push-button lid of the flask. Immediately, I began to wipe it off. Just then, the push button got stock-still. I tried, again and again, to force it out but all efforts went futile. I began to get a coldfeet. First, I only bought it a week ago, again I’ve had a tremendous bonding and good use of it.
I wanted an urgent solution. I called on my friend who was in the sitting room to give me a hand.
He’s always been my resort for little bitty stuff like this especially when gadgets are involved. He had a hard time working on it. He returned it shortly after and gave a no-solution signal to me. Then, it dawned on me that my ‘little cutie baby’ was about to go down the drain just like that. I instinctively kept trying again on my own till I broke the spring and almost shattered the lid itself out of frustration.
Right there, I remembered I haven’t even given a thought to pray about it. A song says, whisper a prayer in the morning, noon and night, to keep your heart in tune. I whispered to God at that moment “Lord, I’m sorry I haven’t involved you in this but please help me fix this lid”. Yeah, God didn’t come from heaven. Lol. Yet he heard. He dropped it in my mind to check YouTube for videos.
My friend and I watched videos on YouTube and carefully following the steps we were able to fix the lid. I was so elated. I couldn’t contain the joy that followed. It was like something lost and was found or something dead that was brought to life again. A songwriter said, ‘o what peace we often forfeit, o what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer”
This experience taught me that there are situations that if we could call upon the name of Jesus, the solution will be easier than the burden we’ve decided to inflict ourselves with. Are there things you’ve said ‘I must’ or ‘it must’? Hey, ask for help from the creator of all things. You don’t need to bear those pains. Do you think there’s no solution to that heady situation? Or do you think you can’t bring God in again because you’ve left him out from outset? Have all solutions brought nothing but more hurts to you?
I’ve got news for you. God, the greatest I am – the best solution provider is ready to aid you, all you need to do is ask. I encourage you to start a relationship with Him today and you’d be glad you did!
