A song writer wrote in the second verse of this popular song “Sweet Sweet Spirit”. There are blessings you cannot receive till you know Him in His fullness and believe; You’re the one to profit when you say, “I am going to walk with Jesus all the way.”
Indeed, there are blessings that elude us until we get some deeper connection with God, better comprehension of kingdom principles, acute understanding of the workings of God’s precepts.
Last week, I read a verse in the bible on one of the tenets of Christ’s gospel. I would love to share some insights on Malachi 3:10. “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse” Tithe is simply one-tenth of one’s earnings or produce. Just in the same light we pay taxes to government, we pay tithe to God.
“That there may be meat in mine house”. Some of us have denied God and His people the needed provisions in the church because we have refused to pay tithe. Many have been negligent, some are quite ignorant and others undecided. Yet, God’s instruction is to pay our tithe.
The devil understands that there are blessings we lose intermittently when we don’t pay our tithes. He gives us enough excuses that we freely accept. Some include: you don’t know what the pastors use the money for, keep it to yourself, nothing will happen to you if you don’t pay, etc
I remember one time, I used to deceive myself by saying I will pay it when its convenient or accumulate some months of my tithes together, I eventually spent them off. I had always promised that I could make it up. This mentality left me stranded, kept me on a leaking pocket and disastrous finance scale until I became faithful to tithing again.
“And prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts” There are few times in the bible when God asked specifically for us to prove him. On the occasion of tithe, he wants us to prove him. I have proven him. I can assure you that He’s more than faithful. He doesn’t owe anyone. I have read stories of people who were faithful to tithing and how God multiplied their sources of wealth. P.S. This does not suggest you don’t do any work, it only implies that God blesses the work of your hands when you tithe.
“If I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it”. I can say confidently that the blessing of God comes with no sorrows. If God promised opening the windows of heaven to pour out a blessing, he will do just that. He will fill our pockets till we have no more room to receive from Him financially and all ramifications. Amazing!
Be determined today like that composer to say “I am going to walk with Jesus all the way.” by being disciplined to tithing now and always!
