The word Shekinah is connected to the Hebrew root shakan (שָׁכַן), meaning to dwell or abide. It is often used to describe the manifest, dwelling presence of God among His people.
In the Old Testament, God led the children of Israel by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. It was a visible assurance of His guidance, protection, and presence.
Imagine waking up every day knowing that the glory of the Most High visibly dwelt among you.
What grace!
“And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light.”
Exodus 13:21 KJV
A beloved hymn captures it beautifully:
“Praise the King of Glory, He is God alone,
Praise Him for the wonders He to us hath shown;
For His promised presence, all the pilgrim way,
For the flaming pillar, and the cloud by day.”
Throughout Scripture, we see different manifestations of God’s glory.
Moses encountered Him at the burning bush.
His glory filled the Tabernacle.
His presence descended upon Mount Sinai.
At the dedication of Solomon’s Temple, the glory of God filled the house so powerfully that the priests could not stand to minister.
Then came the greatest revelation of all.
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory…”
John 1:14 KJV
Jesus Christ came as the fullest revelation of God’s glory.
On the Mount of Transfiguration, that glory became visibly evident as His face shone and His raiment became white as light. See Matthew 17:1–8.
But God’s ultimate desire was never merely to visit His people at intervals.
He desires to dwell within them.
“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”
1 Corinthians 3:16 KJV
This is where the message becomes personal. God does not only want you to experience His presence in church, during worship, or in special moments.
He wants your life to become His dwelling place.
For this to happen, you must come to Jesus, confess and forsake your sins, surrender your life to Him, and allow His Spirit to rule within you.
Then the promise becomes real:
“My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.”
Exodus 33:14 KJV
When God’s presence fills a life, there is rest.
Not necessarily the absence of trials, but the confidence that you are not walking through them alone.
THESE ARE THE DAYS OF GOD’S GLORY
I am reminded of Nathaniel Bassey’s song “The Glory Is Here.”
The song speaks of a wind sweeping across the earth, a river flowing from the throne of God, the sound of heaven reaching the earth, and the glory of God being revealed in our day.
It echoes the words of Isaiah:
“And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.”
Isaiah 40:5 KJV
God is still moving.
Lives are still being transformed.
The Gospel is still calling men and women back to Christ.
The question is:
Will you be among those who carry His glory?
Will you merely experience God’s presence occasionally, or will you cultivate a life that continually reflects Him?
In the church. At home. At work. In your relationships. Online. Everywhere you go.
PRACTICAL WAYS TO CARRY HIS PRESENCE
1. Engage in Kingdom Work
Find something meaningful to do for the advancement of Christ’s Kingdom. Use your gifts, talents, time, and resources.
Serve. Give. Teach. Encourage. Evangelize.
Let your Christianity become something people can see through your life.
2. Use Your Platform
Whether online or offline, let your influence point people toward Jesus. You do not need thousands of followers before your life can make an impact. Let your words, decisions, conduct, and character advertise Christ.
“Let your light so shine before men…”

3. Live a Life of Worship
Do not restrict worship to Sunday morning. Make praise your daily language. Spend time in prayer. Stay in God’s Word. Keep your heart sensitive to His Spirit.
“I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
Psalm 34:1 KJV
WILL YOU MAKE ROOM FOR HIM?
The Shekinah Glory is not merely a distant memory from Israel’s history.
The God who led Israel by fire and cloud still desires fellowship with His people today.
The question is whether you will make room for Him.
Will you surrender your heart?
Will you become a vessel through which others encounter Christ?
Will you carry His light into the places God has positioned you?
May His presence guide you.
May His Word shape you.
May His Spirit fill you.
And may your life continually point others to Jesus Christ.
“My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.”

Will you make room for Him?
